Overview

The Database Administrator oversees the design, implementation and operation of the organization’s databases in order to maintain security and integrity controls.

 

The base salary range for this position is $95,178-$149,566.

 

Actual pay will be determined based upon a candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, geographic location, and may include other job-related factors such as certification(s), professional licensure, or internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of production, non-production and redundant database environments on the cloud and on-premises implementations
  • Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management and monitors transaction activity and utilization
  • Reviews database design and integration of systems and makes recommendations regarding enhancement and/or improvements
  • Develops, manages and tests back-up and recovery plans ensuring that all procedures are functioning properly
  • Maintains security and integrity controls over the databases
  • Contributes to the development of a strategy for use of relational databases technology
  • Advises organization leaders on database concepts and functional capabilities and recommends system changes to programming staff.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or related field and five (5) or more years of experience in related field; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
  • Database Certification (Postgres or Oracle) preferred
  • Skill in AWS Glue and AWS Database Migration Service
  • Strong SQL development skills across OLTP and analytical data platforms
  • Skill in Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora for PostgreSQL administration tasks
  • General understanding of Amazon Redshift architecture and service model, including role-based access control, user/group management, and security permissions
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database administration, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching
  • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, including query optimization, index strategy, vacuum/analyze tuning, and parameter configuration
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting PostgreSQL database performance, resource utilization, and availability
  • Skill in AWS Lake Formation, data lake deployments and administration
  • Ability to organize work for timely completion
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
